DESN 203 – Solidworks Projects

In the final project for DESN 203, I chose to use Solidworks for my design and I leaned on my cycling background to design a gear cluster, otherwise known as a cassette. It is different from a freewheel in that it slides onto a ratcheting body, called a freehub body, then is held in place by a lockring.

The speaker box was part of the final exam in that we needed to create the parts and assemble them within a certain time frame, much like what would happen in a work environment. We were given parameters that we needed to draw, then assemble.

The wire sweep was a fun project in that it includes multiple sweeps, a helix, and derived sketches.
This example uses 3D Sketch planes with swept tubing. It shows how multiple planes can be added to specify how angles can be customized to fit a part into a confined space.
This is an example of various curves using a 3D Sketch. It was primarily about the composite curve with an added coil.
